FAQ

Questions about Menstrual Panties

How do menstrual panties work?

Menstrual panties absorb menstruation and prevent any leakage, keeping you protected at all times and eliminating the need for other menstrual hygiene products. You no longer have to choose between comfort and safety.

How should I wash and dry them?

Soak them in cold water for 30 minutes to remove the blood. If it doesn't come off completely, you can use neutral soap and baking soda. Let them soak for a while longer and finally, wash them by hand or in the washing machine at a maximum temperature of 40°C.

Once you have washed them, stretch your panties and let them air dry. Avoid putting them in the tumble dryer as this may cause them to shrink or lose their absorbent properties.

How long can I wear them for?

This will depend on how abundant your flow is. For some people this may be 8 hours, but others need to change earlier. As soon as you start to feel some wetness around the edges of your panties, it's time to put on new ones.

As a tip, you can touch a piece of paper to the side of the panty to make sure. For this, we recommend always having at least a 3-pack of panties (and some extra panties in your bag if you're going to be away from home for a long time).

Do they work if I have a very heavy flow?

Yes, no problem at all. All our period panties absorb the equivalent of 3 tampons. If you have a very heavy flow, this simply means you will need to change them more often.

Do all your menstrual panties have the same level of absorbency?

Yes, all our panties absorb the equivalent of 3 disposable tampons and offer up to 8 hours of total protection.

The only ones in the collection that we recommend using at the beginning or end of your period are the thongs as they have less room to absorb large amounts of flow due to their design.

How many will I need for each menstruation?

While that will depend on your amount of flow and how long your period lasts, we recommend having a 3-pack of panties so you can test how they feel and how often you find it useful to change them.

You should also consider whether you want to wear them all day, only at certain times or even at night. This will also determine whether you need to add more panties to your collection.

Will I feel wet if I wear period panties?

At all, the top layer allows blood to drain and be absorbed and stored in the next layer. This way the vulva is not in contact with the blood and the last layer remains soft and dry.

How do I know my menstrual panty size?

Each of our knickers has a size chart indicating the centimetres of the hip and waist so you can know exactly which one to choose.

Depending on the model there may be small variations, so we recommend you always follow the size chart. If you still have any doubts, you can chat with us or send an email to info@theecowoman.com so that we can help you choose and avoid you having to manage an exchange.

What is the difference between classic and seamless panties?

The difference between one model and another lies in their design. The classic ones have seams and the others, as the name says, do not have seams. It is a model that was designed to be even more comfortable and more similar to your usual knickers.

What is the difference between menstrual panties and incontinence briefs?

The main difference is that incontinence briefs have a larger absorbency zone that covers up to the hips. The other briefs have a coverage area up to the buttocks. However, they all have the same level of absorbency and guarantee up to 8 hours of total protection and comfort.

Can they be used as swimming costumes?

No, we do not recommend using menstrual knickers in place of swimming costumes as the type of fabric used in knickers is different to that used in swimming costumes.

Bikinis are designed specifically for use in the water. On the outside they are made of lycra like regular bikinis, and on the inside they have the 5 layers of absorbency to prevent leakage.

Can they be used postpartum?

No problem at all. In fact, you'll feel much more comfortable and confident wearing menstrual panties postpartum. We even recommend wearing incontinence briefs for these cases as they have a larger area of coverage and can make you feel more confident that they will absorb everywhere.

Can they be used for sport?

Yes, of course. Many customers do it every month and have left positive feedback. We recommend trying them out first and, once you feel comfortable, try your favourite sporting activity in them.

No! The idea of the swimming costume is that you can enjoy your summer days without worrying about menstruating.

Panty liners are ideal for the first or last days of your period, or to use as a complement to your menstrual cup.

Their absorption capacity is the equivalent of a conventional tampon. Both have 5 layers of natural fabrics that will guarantee fast absorption, maximum comfort and zero leakage.

While that will depend on your body and your flow, we recommend having a 6-pack of pads so you have the freedom to use and wash them without such a rush.

Can I sleep with a cloth compress and not stain?

Yes, we recommend using a night-time pad for sleeping, as it absorbs more of the flow and allows you to stay calm throughout the night.

If you have a heavy flow, you can also use it as a complement if you use a menstrual cup or other menstrual product.
