Spot cleaning for menstrual products

Welcome to our step-by-step guide on how to wash your menstrual products

At Ecowoman we understand the importance of keeping your underwear clean, fresh and spot-free, in a way that respects your body and the environment. Here are some practical tips on how to take care of your period panties, period swimwear, reusable pads and panty liners.

Identify the spot

Before washing your reusable menstrual products, identify where the spot is located.

Soak them

Fill a container with cold water and soak your menstrual products for at least 30 minutes to effectively remove the blood.

Add the soap

Wet the surface of the spot with natural soap. Rub gently with your hands to help the soap penetrate the fibers of the fabric.

Avoid using fabric softeners or bleaches that can irritate the skin and reduce the absorbency of your items.

Water temperature

Wash your reusable menstrual products in cold or mild water. Hot water can set spots and make them more difficult to remove.

Hand washing

After soaking and cleaning, wash them by hand with soap and warm water. Be sure to wash them completely to remove any soap residue.

Machine wash

Put them in a laundry bag and select a gentle wash cycle so as not to damage your menstrual products.

In this step, avoid using the dryer, as excessive heat can damage them.

Air drying

After washing, air dry your products. Sunlight helps kill bacteria and neutralize odors naturally.

Breathable storage

Store your products in a clean, breathable place when not in use. Avoid airtight plastic bags that can cause bacterial growth and odors.
